If you have been given an appointment to attend the practice, the following is an outline of the ‘new’ patient journey at Hillhead Dental Care:

On the day of your appointment:

  • Please aim to arrive at your allocated appointment time. Patient appointments have been spaced to ensure social distancing is maintained.
  • If you are early please wait outside or in your car until 5 minutes before your appointment.
  • If you are going to be late for your appointment, please call or email the practice. We will endeavour to accommodate you if possible.
  • Only bring essential items with you.
  • If possible, please come alone to reduce the number of people in the reception area.
  • The use of our toilet facility is restricted, if possible, please use the toilet before leaving home. If you do require use of our toilet facilities please inform a member of staff before use.

Entering the building:

  • We will see you arrive outside on our CCTV cameras, please buzz the door to gain access.
  • We are happy for you to wear a face covering, but it is not essential.
  • Internal reception door will be open to prevent the need for hand to handle contact.
  • If you are wearing gloves please remove these and dispose of them in the clinical waste bin provided.
  • A sanitising alcohol hand gel will be available.
  • We will check your medical history and COVID-19 status again on the day of your appointment.

In the dental surgery:

  • We will confirm the treatment that is going to be carried out.
  • We will be wearing some extra PPE – but it is still your normal, skilful and caring team underneath!

After treatment:

  • Once treatment has been completed, we will provide the normal instructions and advice, then ask you to return to reception.
  • If there is a charge, we will take payment by cash or card, preferably contactless.

In line with NHS track and trace guidance, if you develop symptoms of cough, fever and/or change in taste/smell in the days following your appointment then we kindly request you contact the practice to inform us as soon as possible.

The protocol will be updated to remain in line with current guidelines.

The practice aim is to ensure a quality service while maintaining a safe environment for our patients and staff.
